In addition to the standard WLP700 Fog Cannon, Dust-A-Side Australia now offers this model with a hydraulic arm-mounted system. This advanced solution enhances flexibility and provides superior dust control, making it highly effective in managing dust at elevated heights and in challenging environments.
Introducing the Hydraulic Arm Advantage
Unlike traditional Fog Cannons, this model features a hydraulic arm system that can lift the cannon to heights of over five metres. This enables operators to adjust the misting system’s height, ensuring precise dust suppression where it’s most needed.
The hydraulic arm, powered by a robust piston mounted on a stable platform, adds versatility to the already high-performing WLP700 model, making it ideal for complex dust control requirements. This feature is particularly beneficial in industries where dust tends to accumulate at higher levels.
For example, on demolition sites, where controlling dust from falling debris is critical, the hydraulic arm can elevate the cannon to form a mist curtain above ground level, preventing dust from rising when debris hits the ground. In mining or storage sites, where high stockpiles generate substantial dust, the raised Fog Cannon effectively captures dust particles before they disperse.
Key Features and Benefits
Safety: The system is equipped with several safety features, including parachute valves that automatically engage if a hydraulic pipe fails, position sensors that prevent the cannon from rotating while the hydraulic arm is in the rest position, and four stabilising hand-jacks to ensure secure positioning on any surface, even uneven ground.
Mobility: The unit is designed for easy transport using a forklift or mobile trolley, thanks to integrated lifting and hooking systems.
Suitable for Windy Conditions: By elevating the cannon, operators can direct the water mist more precisely, reducing wind interference and increasing the reach of the water jet.
Ease of Use: The Fog Cannon is radio-controlled, allowing operators to manage all functions, including raising and lowering the hydraulic arm, from a safe distance.
Durability: Built with high-quality materials and durable on-board electronics and software, the system is reliable even in the harshest environments.

How Fog Cannons work
A Fog Cannon pumps highly pressurised water through a series of jet nozzles, turning the water into mist through atomisation. This fine mist is dispersed through the air by a powerful fan. When airborne dust particles hit the mist, the particles are captured and the water dissipates before ever having the chance to spread.
Dust-A-Side Fog Cannons can be strategically placed near sources of dust, such as tip areas, roads or loading areas, to achieve effective dust suppression. They can be auto-activated by remote control centres, radar sensor, weather sensors or by means of remote activation (e.g. for blasting operations). The amount of water being used by the cannons can also be fully controlled in order to optimise water consumption.
Fog Cannons are typically set up on skids or a trailer for ease of mobility. They can also be self-powered through inclusion of an in-built diesel generator. Dust-A-Side proudly supplies cannons in a variety of sizes, with different throw ranges that can be either fixed or oscillating. Multiple fans can also be interlinked on larger sites for ease of operation and control.
The performance of our Fog Cannons can be further improved by adding a Dust-A-Side surfactant product like HydroWet. Hydrowet actively lowers the surface tension of water particles and makes it easier for the water and dust particles to agglomerate, particularly when managing hydrophobic materials such as coal and other fine ores.
